King’s Lynne & West Norfolk lead councils on air source heat pumps
Just 4.5% of UK new builds completed between 2019 and 2023 included air source heat pumps, while just 0.4% involved ground source heat pumps.
In total, 49,489 homes finished in the UK during that period of time had an air source heat pump fitted, falling to 4,270 for ground source heat pumps.
Nevertheless, uptake is rising. In 2018, for example, just 2.68% of new homes had air source hwat pumps, but by 2023 this had jumped to 7.58%. For ground source, the proportion increased from 0.21% to 0.47% in the five year period.
