Members of the public and organisations are being asked to get on board, donate and spread the message.
Arb Ambassadors is a network of volunteer arborists currently quoting on planting and tree management projects in neighbourhoods across Britain. Those working with the campaign share their knowledge and skills, educate people on best practice, and facilitate more equitable access to trees in all UK nations.
Now the Arboricultural Association has joined the Big Give Earth Raise campaign, with the aim of bringing in £5,000 between 22nd and 29th April. Money will then be given to the Championing Trees and Green Equity movement, with all contributions doubled though the Big Give match fund.
The aim is to try and rebalance tree cover, with the organisations pointing to major differences in tree numbers from one area to the next. Some parts of Britain have five times fewer trees than their neighbours.
Public donations of £10 can go towards paying for free guides, helping spread information faster and more efficiently. Meanwhile, a £25 offer will go towards paying for resources and means of supporting volunteers on the ground.
‘This year, we aim to raise £5,000 through the Big Give Earth Raise, our first ever fundraising campaign — every online donation we receive will make double the difference for our Green Equity project,’ said Dr Emma Gilmartin, Senior Technical Officer at the Arboricultural Association. ‘We hope everyone will join us in supporting this important work – together, we can make a real impact.’
Donations can be made directly here. Alternatively, download the free campaign toolkit to understand how you can get involved in other ways.
