The Polluted Mermaid campaign highlights plight of marine life
Ahead of Disney’s much-anticipated live action version of ‘The Little Mermaid’, the Polluted Mermaid is a visually striking push for awareness.
Run by sustainable toilet paper company Oceans, the campaign uses images of a mermaid surrounded by plastic pollution and contaminated water. The photographs aim to increase the public’s understanding of the problem, and the threat it poses to marine life.
The company has also analysed data to reveal a list of the 10 most polluted beaches in the UK. These are:
- Blackpool Central
- Blackpool North
- Bognor Regis (Aldwick)
- Bridlington South Beach
- Dunster Beach
- Heacham
- Scarborough South Bay
- St Mary’s Bay (Kent)
- Tynemouth Cullercoats
- Weston-Super-Mare Sand Bay
