569mile single-charge EV journey sets new Guinness World Record

The longest trip taken by electric car without recharging proves ‘range anxiety’ is fast becoming a thing of the past.

Drivers Kevin Booker and Sam Clarke, alongside ‘co-pilot’ Richard Parker of Webfleet, completed the journey in a Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV.

Odometer readings, independently verified video footage, and GPS tracking were used to authenticate the trip, alongside batter level data from Webfleet readings. The vehicle was fitted with Bridgestone tyres, and a 91kWh battery. The models’ official WLTP range is 373miles, a distance far exceeded by the team who averaged 6.25miles per kilowatt hour.

Taking a route through Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Cambridgeshire, the drive was completed over 24 hours. Setting a new official Guinness World Record, this beats the previous longest-ever EV journey of 563.97 miles through Hangzhou, China.

‘This record is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in this endeavour,’ said Beverley Wise, Webfleet UKI Regional Director for Bridgestone Mobility Solutions. ‘It represents a significant milestone in the electrification of road transport and demonstrates the potential of electric vehicles when supported by Innovative Bridgestone tyre design and advanced fleet management technology.’

‘We are delighted to have supported this incredible achievement with our expert Patrols and backup team,’ added Edmund King, OBE, president of the AA. ‘The drivers, together with Ford Mustang Mach-E, Bridgestone and Webfleet, have all used their expertise to prove that EVs can go much further than people think. Such endeavours are important to show that electric vehicles can be a major part of the future transport mix.’
