Support for British SME energy costs as fuel prices soar

The UK Business Climate Hub has relaunched in a bid to help small and medium sized enterprises navigate the ongoing gas and oil turmoil, and improve resilience.

Delivered by Downing Street, the Broadway Initiative, and a number of industry partners, the online resource offers practical guidance on cutting energy bills, accessing finance, improving efficiency and responding to market demands. Crucially, this is all available through a single digital portal.

Aiming to become a ‘one-stop-shop’ for tools and case studies that can help smaller companies meet some of the greatest operational challenges of today, the relaunch is a direct response to the Willow Review. This consultation found that access to information and advice, and signposting to support services, was an urgent need of the business community.

‘SMEs are the backbone of our economy and businesses and together with the UK Business Climate Hub we are helping them to cut their energy bills for good,’ added Minister for Industry, Chris McDonald. ‘The relaunched site will provide an enhanced one-stop-shop to help businesses improve their sustainability, reduce energy usage and drive growth.’

‘As the UK’s central source of government-backed sustainability guidance for SMEs, the Hub connects businesses with the tools and support they need to act, whether they are just starting out or looking to take the next steps in optimising their costs, efficiency and resilience,’ said Chris Taylor, Project Director at Broadway Initiative, a coalition which includes the Federation of Small Businesses, British Chambers of Commerce, the CBI, IoD, Make UK, British Retail Consortium, Carbon Capture and Storage Association, Cold Chain Federation, Country Land and Business Association, Environmental Services Association, Food and Drink Federation, Home Builders Federation, Mineral Products Association, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Tech UK, UKHospitality, and Water UK.
