Local authorities, service operators and academic institutions will present at the online and in-real-life event.
Run by Living Streets, the UK-wide charity dedicated to pedestrian safety, the 2025 Summit brings together travel departments, council officers, health professionals, elected officials, campaigners, researchers and ‘walking experts’.
Set to be held on 3rd June in Bristol, tickets for either IRL or online attendees are on sale now. On the day, workshops and ‘walkshops’ will focus on themes including ‘Walk & Wheel In Our Shoes’, looking at the reality of navigating UK city centres with a disability, ‘Transforming the Journey To School in Bristol’, ‘Our Streets not Ad Streets’, which reimagines the public realm without commercial messaging, ‘Bristol Car Free City’, and ‘Women’s Safety – Getting Home Safely: Developing Inclusive Places Using Perceived Safety Assessments’.
The list of speakers and panellists features Jodi Savickas, Association Director in Movement and Place at AtkinsRéalis, Dr Kiron Chatterjee, Professor of Travel Behaviour at the University of West England, Tanya Braun, Director of Policy and Communications at Living Streets, and Carla Denyer MP, Member of Parliament for Bristol Central and co-leader of the Green Party of England and Wales. Simon Lightwood MP, Minister for Local Transport at the Department for Transport, is among the names confirmed to deliver a keynote speech.
While the Summit primarily focuses on Bristol and the West of England, many of the challenges faced by the region are comparable to other areas in the UK, and therefore have relevance to delegates from across Britain.
