ABB Energy Industries’ Service Parts Circularity Program focuses on extending life of used parts, conserving resources and minimising electronic waste.
Since 2020, 93% of waste that was being sent to landfill has been saved and put back into use. with a total reduction from 214.5kg to just 14.2kg by the end of 2023.
Stena Recycling and Ohio Drop Off are the European and US recycling partners, both of which supply comprehensive certified reports assessing the material properties of individual parts across difference categories. ABB also offers financial discounts and incentives for its customers who bring parts in for recycling, further reducing reliance on virgin materials.

Without the transformation of production and consumption models to support the circular economy, we cannot meaningfully preserve natural resources and cut emissions,’ said Marie-Hélène Westholm-Knebel, Global Head of Sustainability at ABB Energy Industries. “Our collaborations with recycling partners ensure that sustainability standards are upheld from the very beginning to the final stage of a product’s lifecycle.’
