Stagecoach UK will upskill staff at 300 companies across the country as part of a new United Nations Global Compact scheme.
In total, seven large scale organisations are participating in the Sustainable Suppliers Training Programme. The initiative focuses on engaging with and educating suppliers on the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
Stagecoach UK will deliver the project to 300 companies across Britain, with staff completing four modules between March and September. Sessions will be delivered live and online, and the overall aim is to improve processes for onboarding sustainability into businesses and improving understandings of international sustainability reporting regulations.
‘Sustainability is at the core of our business. We have a responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment wherever we can, and the Sustainable Suppliers Training Programme helping us to expedite the delivery of our ESG goals,’ said Greg Ritt, Group Head of Sustainability at Stagecoach.
‘Thanks to the joint efforts of our Sustainability and Procurement teams and our partnership with the UNGC UK Network, we’re providing our chosen suppliers with the training, tools and ongoing support they need to start their journey to sustainability and contribute to our bigger net zero picture,’ he continued. ‘We’re excited to see the interest we’ve had already from some of our suppliers, which represents about £200 million in procurement spend, and look forward to more joining us on this journey.’
Other companies involved in the Sustainable Suppliers Training Programme include AVEVA, Crown Agents Bank, Bird & Bird, Aviva and Menzies Aviation.
