The Locality team are looking for a Level 3 Officer with the skills to support the team with environmental crime and Public Space Protection Orders associated with anti-social behaviour. Key responsibilities include investigating reports of environmental crime, gathering evidence, and preparing high-quality case files. The role also involves conducting interviews under PACE, producing accurate interview notes, and preparing documentation for court proceedings when required.
You will monitor tourist hotspots to ensure visitors do not litter, light fires, or use BBQs in restricted areas, helping to keep the area safe and clean for the community. The role includes a mix of daytime patrols as well as occasional evening and weekend work to respond to peak visitor periods and community needs.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Locality Officer with proven experience of working collaboratively with partner agencies and internal teams to coordinate patrols and enforcement activities.
The successful candidate will support the Locality Team in addressing a range of environmental and community issues, including fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles, littering, dog fouling, commercial and household waste enforcement. In addition, the role includes supporting activity related to the migration route associated with the Appleby Horse Fair through the South Lakeland area of our district.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to apply enforcement powers fairly, consistently, and professionally.
