Low carbon heating, cooling, ventilation training centre reopens in Birmingham

One of the HVAC sector’s leaders, Daikin, has unveiled a new and greatly improved facility in the city.

Visitors were recently allowed a glimpse inside the Training Academy, which is dedicated to preparing the next generation of professions in the field – a key priority to reach net zero targets. 

New engineers and other specialists will be given comprehensive training on installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of a vast array of technologies aimed at both residential and commercial markets. A Heating Hub is also on site, allowing both installers and homeowners to access assistance with any technical query. 

The Birmingham site will deliver a number of different courses. While most target newcomers, some are aimed specifically at experienced installers looking to broaden skillsets, alongside electrical engineers working with heat pump products. 

‘The Government’s decarbonisation fund has given Daikin a grant that allows us to offer a limited number of free training places,’ said Henk van den Berg, Residential Business Manager at Daikin UK. ‘We see the Daikin Training Academy as a place for everyone, not just Daikin. It provides a place to conduct training of staff, hold customer events and much more. This is as much your venue as it is ours.’

‘We are thrilled to reopen the Daikin Training Academy and believe it will help make Birmingham a hub for knowledge in the growing renewables industry,’ he continued. ‘With the range of retrofit and new build renewable solutions on display in the centre, installers, social housing providers and developers from across the Midlands region and further afield, will have an unrivalled opportunity to get to grips with these technologies and talk directly with Daikin experts about what may be suitable for their specific needs.
