A new partnership between the cooperative clean energy ownership innovator and 100% renewable energy supplier is opening up access to more community power schemes.
Good Energy customers can now buy a portion of large scale wind and solar projects in the UK through Ripple Energy.
The deal will increase support for renewable developments across the UK, offering an opportunity to reduce household overheads and guarantee 100% green energy to the home. Credit from any investment into new infrastructure will be added to Good Energy accounts.
‘Good Energy are the specialists in microgeneration – helping hundreds of thousands of customers to generate their own clean power and source it from small-scale renewable generators. By working with Ripple we can offer them the chance to own their own portion of a large-scale renewable project and reduce their bills at the same time,’ said Good Energy Chief Executive, Nigel Pocklington.
‘We have always been big supporters of what Ripple is doing to make cooperative renewable energy ownership simple and accessible, and it’s well aligned with our mission to help customers use clean power in their homes and businesses. So we are very excited to be taking this step to work together,’ he continued. ‘It means our tariffs, already acknowledged as among the greenest on the market, can be even greener.’
In June, Ripple Energy published its People Power Manifesto, urging political support for swifter transition to green energy supplies. Since taking power following this month’s general election, the Labour government has taken a number of steps towards increasing renewable energy production in Britain. This includes the announcement of a nationalised Great British Energy company, and removing a de-facto ban on onshore wind in England and Wales.
