Consultation begins on major Lincolnshire solar and energy storage park

Fosse Green Energy will power 110,000 new homes with a capacity of 240MW peak AC. 

A team led by Windel Energy has now begun the first stage of consultation for the facility, which will be a joint venture with Recurrent Energy located around 6miles from Lincoln, in North Kesteven. 

The site will comprise solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and battery storage areas, with underground cables connecting output directly to the National Grid via a substation. The public and other stakeholders can now provide feedback until 20th October 2023, with a second consultation period set to begin at a later date. 

A number of events are set to be held in the area where people can meet the project team and find out more details about the development. These will take place at the following locations, with an online-only session set to be held on Wednesday 11th October – preregistration is required. 

Witham St Hughs Village Hall – Saturday 30th September, 10AM to 2AM 

Oliver Roper Parish Meeting Room – Wednesday 4th October, 3PM to 7PM

The Venue @ Navenby – Thursday 5th October, 3PM to 7PM 

Hammond Sports Centre Main Hall – Saturday 7th October, 10AM to 2PM 

‘We are committed to involving the local community and in consulting widely on our plans in a responsible way. We’ve already considered and listened to feedback received earlier this year and have decided to not use overhead lines and pylons for the connection into the national grid,’ said Gary Toomey, Managing Director at Windel Energy. 

‘The feedback we receive at this stage of public consultation is very important and will help to further influence design of the project, with it used to better understand aspects which should be prioritised as Fosse Green Energy is developed. We are particularly looking for suggestions of community schemes or projects that we could be a part of and on our plans to deliver biodiversity net gain,’ he continued.
