UKGBC and Innovation Gateway to collaborate on built environment

The UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) and Innovation Gateway have today (May 23) announced a partnership which they believe will help put sustainability at the top of the built environment agenda.

The UKGBC is an industry-led network who strive to improve the sustainability of the built environment, and the Innovation Gateway is an alliance of organisations, including Tesco and Heathrow Airport.

Key objectives for the strategic partnership include plans to:

  • Increase the number of organisations making a formal commitment to source and adopt sustainable innovations
  • Drive awareness of high impact innovations, along with improving the capability to source, select and apply them
  • Capture and share success stories of built environment organisations in the UK, demonstrating leadership in innovation and collaboration

Cat Hirst, Director of Learning and Innovation at UKGBC said:

‘The new strategic partnership between Innovation Gateway and UKGBC will support sustainable innovation at scale. Between us, our organisations can bring together built environment businesses and sustainable innovators to unlock the huge potential for a more innovative approach in the design, construction and operation of our buildings and infrastructure.

‘By developing new insights and collaborations, and supporting the creation of sustainable innovations, we can get cutting-edge solutions and new business models to market much quicker.

‘We look forward to working closely with Innovation Gateway to catalyse change in the built environment and champion a truly sustainable approach to innovation.’

Henry Majed, Director of Partnerships at Innovation Gateway said: ‘We are delighted to be working with the UK Green Building Council to drive even greater cross-industry collaboration, and improve the ability of organisations to access and adopt impactful innovations, for a more sustainable built environment.

‘We hope that by working closely with UKGBC, we will be able to scale the impact that Innovation Gateway has had with leading organisations such as RBS, Tesco and Heathrow in transforming both the operational and environmental performance of their buildings.’
