The Role:

We need an experienced, enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer to join our busy Food and Health & Safety team here at Bolton Council.    

Working as part of a friendly and supportive team, you will carry out a wide range of food hygiene, standards and health and safety duties including inspections and re-active work.  Using your excellent communication and customer care skills you will promote excellent standards within businesses and be able to take appropriate enforcement action, where required, to achieve compliance. 

About You:

Registered with EHRB and able to meet the Food Standards Agency’s competency requirements for an Authorised Officer.  Experience of food and health and safety enforcement in a wide variety of premises, ideally including approved establishments.    

Able to cope with a demanding workload and be equally happy working as part of a team and on your own with excellent decision making skills.   Where necessary, able to work out of core hours.        

Have a flexible approach as you may be required to carry out other Regulatory Services functions from time to time.

Bolton has a wide variety of businesses including large manufacturers, approved premises and many small businesses with varying levels of compliance.  The Food and Health and Safety team sits within Regulatory Services who cover statutory functions of Pollution Control, Licensing, Education and Enforcement, Pest Control and Trading Standards.

The work is varied and challenging and the role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and experience within our team.  You will manage and complete your own workload to set deadlines whilst assisting colleagues when needed.
